Trigger foods

Trigger food:  A particular food item or combination that when you eat one of them, it causes your brain to kick into crave mode thereby requiring you to eat 47 more of them.

I have several trigger foods to varying degrees.  My top 3 are below, in no particular order.

Donuts:

This was a picture of our break room this morning - or in other words, one reason I'm fat.  I've been known to eat 6+ donuts in a sitting (depending on the size...Krispy Kremes?  I can destroy at least a dozen of those little #$%^&@#)

Normally it starts innocently with one, then turns to two, then before you know it, I've had 4-5 or more and I'm feeling like crap the rest of the day.

Today?  Not so much.  I've been able to avoid them.  Munching on some carrots and celery with peanut butter dip this afternoon to keep the cravings at bay.

Pizza:
Who the hell doesn't love pizza?

I definitely have my preferences when it comes to toppings and style, but in reality, there's only two kinds of pizza I like:  Hot and Cold.

Like my other trigger foods, I can polish off A LOT of pizza very, very quickly - and then deal with acid reflux all night.

The picture below was last night at the home of some friends.  I had a sandwich and salad before we went over, and popcorn there so I was able to avoid giving in and demolishing several slices.

Candy:

I LOVE candy.....most kinds.  My motto has usually been, if one candy bar is good, 4 must be better right?  This was taken at the grocery store last night where I bought a bunch of healthy food and snacks and was able to avoid the temptation of the candy.

I know I won't avoid these trigger foods every time.  And I've been doing this enough to realize that I will likely have a binge or two.  I just can't let it define the rest of the work I'm doing here.  I can't let it snowball from one meal to two, to a week, to a month, to a year.....you get the point.

I'm also not saying I will continually deny myself these foods - that's not realistic either.  Denial causes cravings which leads to binging.  Maybe I send my wife to buy me treats, so I don't buy a cart full.  :)

Mine is Oreos! I have a couple but by far the worst are Oreos. I'd they're in the house I'll eat the whole darn thing! Keep up the great job!

I have issues with any sweets. Oreos would be in my top 20. :)
